From 4 to 6 October, the body of water in front of Marina Grande, in Sorrento, hosts the fourth edition of the Regina Giovanna Trophy.
Dedicated to traditional wooden lateen sailing boats, in memory of the ancient local maritime, commercial and fishing tradition, the event is sponsored by the Municipality of Sorrento and organized by the Aprea wood shipyard, by the Sorrento section of the Italian Naval League and by the Circolo Alimuri of Meta.
"The gathering was created to give continuity to the tradition of lateen sailing in the waters of Sorrento - explains the president of the city council, Luigi Di Prisco - The initiative takes place as part of the Circuit of the Sirens of Southern Italy, which sees stops in Salerno, Pisciotta, Reggio Calabria, Scilla, Palinuro and Vico Equense An opportunity for all sailing and sea enthusiasts to admire these magnificent boats".
Fifteen will compete in the three-day Regina Giovanna Trophy. The program also includes convivial moments and the final awards ceremony, on the afternoon of October 6th.
