An extraordinary exhibition that unites an international artist like Antonio Ligabue and Sorrento. From 5 August to 16 November 2024 the rooms of Villa Fiorentino will host the exhibition which presents itself as an anthology which allows the public to engage with works created throughout the creative life of a rebellious but brilliant, restless and visionary artist, who is now a true myth of twentieth century art.
The exhibition celebrates a great expressionist, one of the protagonists of Italian art of the 20th century.
The exhibition presents 67 works: 52 of his famous oils, including masterpieces such as Tiger's Head (1956), Leopard on the Rock (1960), Black Widow (1955), Eagle with Fox (1944), Wildcat with Kite (1960) , Self-portrait (1959). The Portrait of Elba (1936) is extraordinary, Ligabue's first painting dedicated to taking pictures of others, in this case a little girl who died to console her mother.
In Sorrento, on display, there are 15 of his intense bronze sculptures made from the original Po clay that the artist chewed for a long time to make it ductile.
